Weight & Metabolic Health
Looking beyond the number on the scale
When weight won’t budge despite your best efforts, there’s usually a reason. Hormone changes, thyroid function, insulin resistance, stress, sleep, and gut health all play a role. We look at the full picture and build a plan that addresses what’s actually driving the weight gain.
GLP-1 medications
GLP-1 medications, such as semaglutide (Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Zepbound), were first developed for type 2 diabetes and are now widely used for weight management. They work by mimicking a natural hormone that helps regulate blood sugar, reduce appetite, and slow stomach emptying, so you feel full sooner and longer.
In clinical studies, patients using these medications along with lifestyle changes lost up to 20% of their body weight. Research also suggests benefits for heart, kidney, and liver health.
We offer GLP-1 medications at standard doses and as microdosing, a lower-dose approach some patients prefer for fewer side effects, preserving muscle, or maintaining results after reaching a goal weight. We’ll discuss which fits you.
Weight changes linked to hormones
Hypothyroidism. A slower thyroid can mean a slower metabolism, more fat storage, and less energy. Thyroid treatment comes first, and GLP-1s can offer extra support by curbing appetite and helping reduce body fat, especially around the abdomen.
Perimenopause and menopause. Hormone shifts can slow metabolism, increase insulin resistance, and lead to muscle loss and weight gain. GLP-1s can help regulate appetite and improve insulin sensitivity, making weight loss more achievable. [See Hormone Health →]
More than a prescription
GLP-1 medications work best as part of a complete plan. Yours may include nutrition and protein guidance, strength training to protect muscle, stress management, gut health support, hormone balancing, and reducing exposure to environmental toxins. This approach gets more from the medication while minimizing side effects, and helps make results last.
